How to Use the GoRemit App

STEP1Register Your Mail Address

STEP1-(1)

(1) Click "New application".

STEP1-(2)

※If you wish to make remittances by withdrawing directly from your SBI Shinsei Bank Account (Yen Savings/Foreign Currency Savings), please enter the same email address you use for your PowerFlex Bank Account mail alerts.

(2) Register your E-mail Address. After registration is complete, we will send you a temporary password to the registered e-mail address.

STEP1-(4)

(3) Log in with the registered e-mail address and the temporary password.

STEP1-(5)

(4) After setting a new password, you will be able to log in.

STEP2Enter personal information and submit your ID

STEP2-(1)

(1) After officially logging in step 1, enter your application details.

STEP2-(2)

(2) Take photos of your Individual Number (My Number) documents and register your signature.

※"Individual Number Notification Documents", which will replace the "Individual Number Notification Card" from May 25, 2020,cannot be used for reporting the Individual Number (My Number).

※Individual Number Notification cannot be used for providing the Individual Number (My number) if the information of the Card (i.e. name, address, etc.) has changed on or after May 25, 2020.

STEP2-(3)

(3) Select ‘Verify identity online’ or ‘Submit your ID by post’

(4−1)≪Customer applying from the online verification site≫

STEP2-(4-1)

Required IDs: Drivers License (Japanese Nationals) or Residence Card (Foreign Nationals).
Take photos of both your ID and yourself on online verification site.

(4−2)≪For customers who would like to submit their ID by post≫

STEP2-(4-2)

If you do not not have a Drivers License or Residence Card, print out the ‘ID Attachment Form’ from the link on the guidance email and post it back with ID documents such as Official transcript of Resident Record (Jyuminhyo no utsushi) or Health insurance card.

  • If we need to make contact with you regarding your registered information or documents, we will send you a message or e-mail with GoRemit App. After logging into GoRemit App, please check the message and correct the registration information and re-take pictures of necessary documents.

STEP3Receive Registration email or Letter

≪Customers who have uploaded their ID from the online verification site≫

STEP3-online

The registration will be finalized and an Registration Email will be sent in about 5-7 business days. All functions will be available on the app after receiving this email and by logging into the app.

≪Customers who submitted their ID by post≫

STEP3-post

A Registration Letter will be sent to you by unforwardable registered mail in about 7-10 business days. All functions on the app will be available after registering your Customer Number printed on the letter into the app.

You can easily log in by fingerprint / face authentication information registration as necessary.
Please follow the steps below.

(1) Click the menu mark at the upper left of the home screen.

(2) Click "Settings" to register your fingerprint / face authentication information.

STEP4Create A Remittance Destination

How-to Guide: Add/Change of Beneficiary Account Details

STEP4-(1)

(1) Click "New" at the upper right of the "remittance request instructions" screen to create a remittance destination.

STEP4-(2)

(2) Enter the new beneficiary information and apply.

STEP4-(3)

(3) Your registration will be completed within approximately 10-15 business days after we receive your information and coomplete our screening.
We will inform you by sending a message or e-mail with GoRemit App when the registration is complete.

 

STEP5Create the Payment Instructions

STEP5-(1)

(1) After registering the beneficiaries, select the beneficiary you want to transfer to from the beneficiary list and click the "Remittance" on the top right of the screen.

(2) Specify the desired remittance method.

Remittance from Yen Deposit Account / Remittance from Foreign Currency Deposit Account

STEP5-(3)

If you would like to transfer from "Yen Deposit Account" or "Foreign Currency Deposit Account", you need to create remittance requests by entering the currency, amount and message (if needed). After we have received the remittance requests, we will begin the remittance procedure.

Transfer to
designated
account

STEP5-(4)

If you transfer funds to designated collection account, you do not need to send us remittance request instructions from the GoRemit App. Please calculate the amount of money to be transferred from the "Rate Calculation" screen, and please make a domestic transfer to our designated collection account listed on the guide screen. After deducting our fee, we will exchange funds for overseas remittances to foreign currency at the TTS rate quoted for that day by GoRemit and will begin the remittance procedure.

  • If you would like to transfer from "Yen Deposit Account" or "Foreign Currency Deposit Account", you need to register PowerFlex Service (PowerFlex) with GoRemit App in advance.

Important points on the GoRemit Overseas Remittance Service

  • In order to use the GoRemit Overseas Remittance Service (GoRemit), you need to apply in advance.

<Overseas Remittance by transfer to our designated collection account>

  • When making transfers to our designated collection account, funds received by 3:00 p.m. on business days will be remitted after converted from yen to the foreign currency using the GoRemit TTS (Telegraphic Transfer Selling) exchange rate for that day. If yen funds arrive after 3:00 p.m., they will be converted and remitted on the immediately following business day using the GoRemit TTS exchange rate for that (the following) day.
  • In cases when Yen is the denominated remittance currency, funds received by 3:00 p.m. will be processed on the immediately following business day. Funds received after 3:00 p.m. will be processed on the business day after the immediately following business day.
  • The remittance fee is JPY 2,000 per remittance and is not dependent on the amount you remit. For remittances in Japanese yen, an additional lifting fee of 0.1% of the remittance amount (minimum charge of JPY 1,500) will be charged in addition to the JPY 2,000. Domestic transfer fees are borne by the customer.

<Overseas Remittance from PowerFlex accounts (for individual customers)>

If you wish to make remittances with the GoRemit Overseas Remittance Service by withdrawing funds directly from your PowerFlex account, you will need to register your PowerFlex account with the GoRemit app separately in advance.

  1. Remittance from Yen Deposit accounts
    • When making a foreign currency remittance by withdrawing from your PowerFlex Yen Deposit account, remittance request instructions received before 3:00 p.m. on a business day will be remitted after converted from yen to the foreign currency using the GoRemit TTS exchange rate for that day. In cases when Yen is the denominated remittance currency, remittances will be processed on the immediately following business day. (Please note that foreign currency-denominated remittance request instructions cannot be sent after 3:00 p.m.. Yen-denominated remittance requests may be sent after 3:00 p.m., however funds will be remitted on the business day after the immediately following business day.)
    • The remittance fee is JPY 2,000 per remittance, and is not dependent on the amount you remit.
  2. Remittance from Foreign Currency Deposit accounts
    • When making a foreign currency remittance by withdrawing from your PowerFlex Foreign Currency Deposit account, remittance request instructions received by 3:00 p.m. on a business day will be remitted on the following business day. For remittance request instructions received after 3:00 p.m., we will remit 1 day after the following business day.
    • The remittance fee is JPY 4,000 per remittance, and is not dependent on the amount you remit.
    • Intermediary banks overseas may deduct fees. In addition, beneficiary banks in some countries may also levy charges.
    • Depending on the beneficiary country and bank, funds will typically arrive within 1-3 business days after we make the remittance, however screening processes and local banking practices on the beneficiary end may cause delays in some cases.
