Participation in Initiatives

The United Nations Global Compact

Since 2019 SBI Shinsei Bank has been committed to the UN Global Compact corporate responsibility initiatives and its principles in the areas of human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption.

Principles for Financial Action for the 21st Century

SBI Shinsei Bank has signed "Principles for Financial Action for the 21st Century" to fulfill responsibilities and roles required for the formation of a sustainable society.

Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs)

In December 2019, we signed the "Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs)" (Joint initiative of UN Women and the UN Global Compact) to promote the active participation of women in society.

Equator Principles

In April 2020, SBI Shinsei Bank became the seventh Japanese financial institution to adopt the Equator Principles. The Equator Principles are a framework adopted by private financial institutions to assess whether projects will be implemented with due consideration to the environment and society when financing projects involve large-scale development.

Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD)

SBI Shinsei Bank has endorsed the recommendations of TCFD (Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures).

Principles for Responsible Banking

SBI Shinsei Bank Group has signed "Principles for Responsible Banking (PRB)" launched by the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative.

The PRB is a framework for establishing strategies and targets that are consistent with social objectives such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Agreement, for expanding positive impacts through business activities, reducing and avoiding negative impacts, and for transparently disclosing the content of such strategies and targets.

Japan Impact-driven Financing Initiative

SBI Shinsei Bank Group has signed "Japan Impact-driven Financing Initiative" in November 2021. "Japan Impact-driven Financing Initiative" is an initiative for financial institutions to promote impact investment for the purpose of actively addressing social and environmental issues, holistically understanding impact.

Poseidon Principles

SBI Shinsei Bank participated in the "Poseidon Principles" in March 2021. The Poseidon Principles were established in June 2019 by 11 major European and American financial institutions as a voluntary initiative by private financial institutions, with the aim of supporting the decarbonization of the shipping industry from a financial perspective.
