Termination of GAICA Flex Prepaid Card Service

Thank you for using GAICA Flex Prepaid Card.

Please be informed that All GAICA Flex Prepaid Card services will be terminated.
The following are the procedures and details for the termination.
Please confirm the information carefully. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

- The "GAICA Flex Prepaid Card" is issued by SBI Shinsei Bank Group member, APLUS Co., Ltd. (hereinafter "APLUS").

The following dates and time are in Japan Standard Time.

The services and support will be available until 23:59 on the termination date.

Refund of the money loaded to GAICA Flex Prepaid Card

The details will be sent to your registered email address in November 2023 from APLUS.

To refund your balance with both GAICA and GAICA (Flex) Prepaid Card.

Summary of the termination

Discontinuation of card issuance
Requests for issuing new cards will be discontinued on Saturday, October 28, 2023.

  • Requests for issuing a new card: Available until Saturday, October 28, 2023
  • Renewed cards: Renewed cards of cards expiring in or before October 2023 will be issued. Cards expiring in or after November 2023 will not be renewed.

Termination of fund loading

The fund Loading function from your SBI Shinsei Bank’s PowerFlex account will be terminated on Tuesday, January 30, 2024. The fund loading function is available until Tuesday, January 30, 2024.

Discontinuation of services

Payments at VISA merchants in and outside Japan, withdrawals using ATMs overseas and contactless payments will be terminated on Sunday, March 31, 2024.

The services will be unavailable regardless of the expiry date on your card.

Termination of the customer desk dedicated for lost/stolen cards

Use of all GAICA Prepaid Card will be terminated on Sunday, March 31, 2024. The customer desk dedicated to lost/stolen cards will therefore be closed on the same day.

The point of contact for inquiries on and after Monday, April 1, 2024 will be announced separately.

Discarding your card

Please cut up and discard your card at your own discretion.

The parts of the card linked to your identity such as name, card number, expiry date, security code, signature, magnetic stripe and IC chip, should be cut up into small pieces.

Discontinuation and termination of all functions and services

All GAICA Flex Prepaid Card functions and services will be discontinued and terminated on Friday, May 31, 2024.

Viewing and saving of card transaction statements will be terminated on Friday, June 28, 2024, when the APLUS member-only site is closed.

Inquiries after GAICA Customer Desk is closed

GAICA Customer Desk will be closed on 17:00, Friday, June 28, 2024.

The point of contact for inquiries including inquires regarding failure of refunds to card balance by termination will be announced separately.

Request related to the termination

Regarding transactions with merchants that do not accept prepaid cards (e.g., subscription).

Even though VISA is available at stores including online stores worldwide, GAICA Flex Prepaid Card is not available for payments of monthly fees and usage fees under the current contract. Please terminate your contract if you use GAICA Flex Prepaid Card for these services.

Examples: Public utility (electricity, gas and water), telecommunication (payments for internet providers, satellite broadcasting and CATV), newspaper subscription (including electronic newspapers), insurance premium, tuition for correspondence education and other monthly membership fees

Regarding the terms for Silver Stage for the Step Up Program using "GAICA Flex Prepaid Card"

Preferential service for the Silver stage will be available to the end of January 2026. The eligibility requirement and the applicable term will be as follows.

Regarding the Cash back of loading fee in a foreign currency for customers whose stage is Silver or over for the Step Up Program

The foreign currency loading fee for customers whose stage is Silver or over will be refunded by the end of the month following the loading in foreign currency.

The loading of the foreign currency will be available to the termination date, Tuesday, January 30, 2024 and the cash-back for the loading fee in a foreign currency will be made by the end of February 2024.
